About Us
This is a house building project built entirely by the father, with support from the whole family.
- Master Yang: A skilled carpenter who began building this house alone at age 50 in 2000, spending 18 years to complete the main structure.
- Master Yang’s wife: The owner and supervisor of the house project, who continues to provide Master Yang with three meals daily, regardless of the challenging conditions on the construction site over the past 20 years.
- Oldest daughter/Ji Shu: The operations coordinator of the house, who watched her father build the house from a young age, with her own dreams intertwined with the house.
- Oldest son-in-law/Yu Qian: The project coordinator, with a love for “wife” and “house,” transitioning from capturing behind-the-scenes moments of Master Yang to learning wooden construction, excelling in communication and coordination, hoping to one day maintain this house.
- Youngest daughter/Jing Wen & youngest son-in-law/Ting Ju: Supporters living far away, playfully teasing Master Yang and enjoying drinks with their daughter.
- In 2012, this house building project won the ninth edition of the Keep Walking Dream Funding Program.
- Since 2012, various reality documentary programs have featured them (like TVBS/Step by Step, Public Television/Guess Who Came to Dinner, Chinese Television News Magazine, etc.).
- In 2022, director/Su Yu Ting’s documentary about the house, “Family Tree,” was nominated for Best Documentary at the Busan International Film Festival and received funding from the National Arts Council.

【 ⁺ Dining Together】
Yang’s wife says that every meal must include fish; when dining in Fangliao, one fish per person is the basic option, and depending on the seasonal main ingredients and the number of reservations, 5 to 8 dishes (or 1 dessert) are coordinated, or several recommended signature dishes from local restaurants in Fangliao can be randomly suggested and delivered to your home dining table for a shared experience.
- The dining table is rectangular, with the most comfortable seating capacity being 4 to 8 people (maximum 8 people)
- This house truly serves as a living space for family, and we only accommodate one group of visitors at a time; the family will dine at the same table with you
